Try the Zone Diet to Keep the Weight Off

A man named Dr. Barry Sears developed the Zone Diet. The simplest overview possible is that his diet isn’t a diet at all. It is what everyone needs for weight loss, subsequent weight control, and improved health for a lifetime. The Zone Diet is a healthy lifestyle plan.

Dr. Sears is a credentialed biochemist and a bio-nutritionist who, formerly, was involved as a researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Of course, with any diet plan there comes a book from the experts. Dr. Sears’ book, written with co-author Bill Lawren, is the bestseller, “Enter the Zone.”

In collaboration, the diet’s marketers make numerous convincing and scientific sounding arguments to support many of the things we already know about healthy eating and fit living. The twist, that these men have prepared, is a simpler method of following the diet for weight loss, and they then offer an ongoing plan, to adopt these healthier habits, for permanent maintenance.

A Different Approach

Much of it is focuses on the elusive, “eating healthy for the rest of your life,” theory which so many plans neglect after weight loss is achieved. What is remarkable about that is why so few have played on that angle until now? There are plenty of weight loss diet plans but they are geared towards the popular demand for quick results and are not often sustainable in the day-to-day lives of most folks. That, indeed, is where the problem lies.

Obesity and other health conditions, directly associated with being overweight, are the results of overeating and improper nutrition, but that is not the cause. The cause is, bluntly, poor lifestyle habits that need to be changed, and changed for good. Anyone who has lost weight and gained it back, perhaps multiple times, knows exactly what they have to do. The Zone Diet lays out an easy plan to make these changes permanent while still attempting to be satisfying in the real world.

Specifically, the easy plan is more about a strict adherence to a simple formula of percentages, of nutritional elements, in your daily eating. What it is not about, is confusing calorie counting, size of meals, times to eat, or a lot of no-nos. To give you a little more motivation, the plan emphasizes the benefits of increased vigor and energy, with the inspiring add-on concentration towards athleticism, and peak fitness levels, that can be achieved by the human body.

The Zone Diet, at first glance, might be perceived as a body sculptor’s map to target precise body areas, for optimum tone, with some kind of nutritional secrets. Like, to increase arm musculature, eat broccoli. In all logic though, nothing credible has been devised yet to, diet-wise, target anything but entire body systems, such as the all the muscles, or the whole immune system. So far, only objective exercises have been able to do that. In fact though, The Zone Diet is really named for the mindset, involving the lifestyle plan, using trendy lingo. It is more like, “getting into the zone,” or the attitude, the spirit, of the concept.

Moving Straight Ahead

The Zone’s healthy eating habits are ridiculously straightforward. Eat 40% carbohydrates (good kinds), 30% fats, (good kinds) and 30% proteins. To give more substance to the Zone diet theory, it is explained that this rule has to do with the proper balance of hormones and blood sugar levels. The good Doctor’s Zone Diet is also, not surprisingly, sprinkled with additional marketing opportunities for further fine-tuning, of the lifestyle hypothesis, using omega 3 and polyphenol nutritional supplements.

The Zone Diet has its cheerleaders and supporters. It also has its critics like any other new or fad diet on the market today. Some say the scientific, “facts,” are untested. All in all though, the nutritional principles are sound and well respected, balanced and un-extreme.
