The Zone Diet Book and More
The Zone Diet book, the original book that started it all, was called “Enter the Zone”. This book, written by Dr. Barry Sears and co-author Bill Lawren, was the first of many books explaining the principles of the Zone Diet. The cornerstone of the revolutionary Zone Diet, “Enter the Zone” was published in 1995, with scientific reasoning and a unique plan for a healthier lifestyle. Utilizing a simple moderate daily eating routine, the philosophy is to adjust and maintain hormonal balances, in the body that provide optimal energy.
By balancing hormones, your own genetic materials work at peak levels and provide maximum health benefits. Three hormones are the main focus, doing two key jobs in the body. Dr. Sears contends that inflammatory processes in the body are excessive without regulation and sap the body of strength when not needed for their immune system function. He calls this, “silent inflammation”. The hormone insulin unregulated causes fluctuations in blood sugar levels that cause instability in energy levels. The Zone diet book “Enter the Zone” is written in two parts, both laymen’s terms and a second section with more clinical rhetoric meant to inform health care professionals of the Zone Diet benefits.
Other Publications by Dr. Sears
Dr. Sears has published about 10 other books too, all pertaining to Zone Diet principles and proper eating habits. The main impetus of the program, after all, is eating right as a lifelong habit and not just a quick weight loss diet.
For a more condensed, quick start guide to the Zone Diet, Dr. Sears has the zone diet book available called, “A Week in the Zone”. This paperback book gives a brief overview of the Zone Diet eating regimen, and less of the scientific theory that backs the plan. The book further jump-starts the nuts and bolts of the eating methods with a weeks worth of exemplary meal plans and recipes to produce them.
Change it Up with new Recipes
If you are already in the zone, and want more variety and creativity in your daily Zone Diet meals, Dr. Sears has published a couple of exclusive recipe books to help you along. “Zone Meals in Seconds”, and “Zone Perfect Meals in Minutes” are zone diet books packed with whole meal ideas made with nutrients and portions that follow Zone Diet rules. Complete balanced meals are critical to the Zone Diet plan and not just singular, eating right, recipes. Both of these have 150 recipes each of whole meal and snack recipes formulated for your Zone Diet eating routine. If you are interested in Soy proteins in your meals, the Zone Diet people have published a focused book utilizing soy products, called “The Soy Zone”.
If you want more Zone material there are two other food related books by Sears. “The Top 100 Zone Foods” and “What to Eat in the Zone” both pack important Zone diet eating information to help you choose, count and calculate your Zone meals.
Let Science Guide You

For people who are serious about honing Zone Diet ideals for greater athleticism, Dr. Sears provides a book about utilizing the supplement omega 3, called “The Omega Rx Zone”. One of Sears’ goals in spreading the Zone Diet message is to cultivate more people interested in top physical performance.
